On June 2, the city celebrates their 600th anniversary of being a market town, with activities taking place from morning to evening.

In June 1426, King Erik VII of Pomerania granted the port city of Helsingør the same market town rights as Copenhagen, marking the city’s official status and the beginning of its role as a trading hub. It was established that all ships had to stop in Elsinore to have their cargo taxes and pay a toll to the Danish Crown - known as The Sound Dues.
